You haven't told us what experience, if any, you have with woodworking using power tools or hand tools. If you know how to use your tools, it shouldn't be too hard, but if you're a total newbie, you need to develop at least a basic understanding of how to use a router or chisels safely and competently. You have to be VERY careful when using a router. They can tear up a human being pretty effectively if you don't know what you're doing. Quote:
Alternately, you could do the job with a steady hand, a lot of patience and some sharp chisels, but again, experience comes into play. If you're not confident, practice on scrap wood first. Quote:

![]() | i know what its like messing with your no.1 guitar and stuff but my opinion was you have to try eventually. so i recon just work up to it, and if you manage it you'll be really chuffed. if your serious about guitars, which i recon you are then id say give it a go, but then again, i wouldnt have a clue where to start. but i did manage to change my pickups all by myself :p in my warlock, wooo go me haha |

![]() ![]() ![]() | yeah man i aspire to be a top guitar luthier BUT i think this is a bit advanced for me and i dont want to fuck up my only axe let alone a kikass one by trying it myself , i cant even change pickups yet.... yet i can do a full set up |

![]() | i full set up i find hard i'll try though, well i have my washburn wg587 im trying to set up but i cant get the truss rod how i think it should go. i did the best i could to set up my warlock and i thought it was alrite, then i got it done profesionally and its like WOAH! some people are just amazing but still im learning. good luck with whatever you choose mate. maybe pay to get it routed then install the stuff urself. thats a compromise and should save you a little cash |
