Recommend me some Groove tubes

I plan on retubing my Lnaey because the previous owner had put alot of weird tubes in it, for the 4 preamp tubes he had 1 electro-harmonix, 1 sovtec, 2 old groove tubes, and for the 4 power tubes he had Ruby tubes.
I'm considering getting Groove tubes, because my local(1 1/2 hour drive) carries only electro-harmonix and Groove tubes, I'm looking for models that give warm sustain, clear highs, and a tight low end. I play mostly shred and a fair amount of metal, so if there is any experts on Groove tubes here, I'd like some help.
Thanx

Such pain, I must help...deepen it

For preamp tubes, skip right over Groove Tubes and go straight to Tungsol. Their 12AX7 is absolutely amazing sounding, and nails everything you're looking for. For power tubes, pick up a set of JJ's from Eurotubes.

www.eurotubes.com - I'm a JJ fan.

Noodles, is this Tungsol tube the one you and Mike have been raving about?

Damn, I don't have a credit card.
So there's no Groove tube worth getting?

Yes, it is. You can get them places like DougsTubes, or even Musician's Fiend. I won't dis the Groove Tubes 12AX7-M (Mullard Reissue), as it gets glowing reviews, but the TungSol 12AX7s get very similar reviews and they're cheaper.

Power tubes, that's El34, right? JJ's are probably your best bet...

A lot of guys use that "mix and match" preamp tube approach - it can help wring the most out of an amp. Or it can make it suck.

They're quality stuff - generally - just expensive. You're paying for the name, in most cases.

If your closest shop carries E-H, they should be able to order the TungSols for you, since E-H distributes them.

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

Their EL-34s get pretty glowing reviews, as well as the 12AX7s. Not being en EL34 fan, I haven't tried them...

As far as 12AX7s are concerned, I have been using the Groove Tubes Mullard reissue and am very happy with them. They're not cheap and are not quite the same as an original Mullard but they do sound really good to my ears.
