![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i'm plenty happy with the gotoh's on my V the sperzels on my 6 are kind of annoying, one came loose when i was showing that guitar to a band i might be building for, and it was really embarrassing to have my guitar going out of tune while he was playing it... |

![]() ![]() ![]() | In my opinion, Sperzels are good, but not as good as the Schaller locking tuners. They are the best! They NEVER go out of tune! Schallers are what EBMM uses on all the guitars they build and we all know that EBMM kicks ass! ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i would like to try schallers personally, i'd also like to try the planet waves ones... i'm not sold on the sperzel ones after using them, and i agree with the 12:1 thing, it sucks. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | my 6 with them is stable, stays in tune well, but so do my gotoh's on my V and on my Rhoads V, and on all the ibanez i've ever had. the only difference is the sperzels have thumbwheels, and i've had the low E one come loose before, as i said in a previous post, where i don't even have to deal with that on non locking tuners, but i can still "lock" the string by running it through the hole 2 times... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have a D-Thing I am not planning on using. I will be installing D-Tunas instead. The only thing I did to it was to slightly bore out the string hole so it could fit a string larger than 0.054, but the headstock design I did for my baritone neck was so small it was never going to fit anyway. It has never been installed on a guitar at all and still comes with the instructions. Anyone interested can pm me. I'm in Germany, but have USPS access on post. I'd like to recuperate most of my investment so I'd ask for $50 shipped, but will entertain offers privately. I will warn though that I gave a friend the other one I had as a Christmas present to put on his Carvin, and he said that it was not abolutely perfect. He said it did the job well enough for on the fly drop D tuning, but he still felt that it was just not quite spot on. I cannot, however, vouch for his intonation setup which may have had a lot to do with the slight pitch discrepancy, since his guitar had just recently had a new nut installed and a lot of neck adjustments done after having it shipped overseas with the rest of his household goods. Side note: I got my Sperzels directly from the company, and frankly, I got some duds. I will most likely have to replace 3 or 4 of them since I have to use pliers to turn the locking knobs (thumb wheels, or whatever you call them). Also, they will not fit a string larger than 0.054 withough being bored out. I bored one out to handle the 0.074 I use for the low F#/E, and it works, but I'm considering replacing it and the next lowest one with bass tuning machines. "Dude, you need to find the right fucking meds to be on, because you are the most unstable person I know." |

![]() ![]() ![]() | A + about schallers is that for you big string freaks the schallers post hole is bigger. The biggest string I could get thru a sperzel is a .52! Schaller I did a .60 with room to spare. |
