Crunchlabs, which way is right?

iv'e seen like a trillion guitars with the Dimarzio Crunchlab pickup, and it seems split as to which is the right way to put them in. Any ideas? i don't know much about these types of things, jw.

The thing is, there is no "right way" for the bar to face.

It takes about a minute to swap the pickup around (assuming it has an extra couple inches of lead). See for yourself which works best for your desired tone.

what i've noticed is that pettrucci (it's his pickup) puts the bar towards the neck in his 6 strings and puts it towards the bridge in his 7s. I think with the bar towards the neck you'll have lots more attack and super super tight crunch and it'd be good for soloing while with teh bar towards the bridge you'll get a little more output and much beefier rythm playing with the high notes being hella smooth for leads. I think you might have too much mids and high end with the bar towards the neck. It's all my guessing so no facts here. Hope that may help. I'm gonna do my 7 string petrucci style :P

I tried both in an RG550, it was slightly tighter with the bar facing neck, and was slightly thicker with the bar facing bridge.

I like the bar facing neck tone more myself.
