V - strap button placement
I've got a cheap 6 string V which I'm going to be um...customizing (the refinishing process will be receiving it's own thread) but at the moment the neck dives like a SOB - something I personally can't stand.
The current button placement is just behind the neck joint (back of the body) and on the tip of the upper 'wing' bit. The question is - how much improvement is there likely to be if I reposition the second button to the underside of the upper wing (nearer to the apex of the V)? any other suggestions will also be greeted with much appreciation and e-rep ![]() |

my Rhoads V has the bottom button on the inside of the V near the input jack, close to the center, and its one of the best balancing guitars i've ever owned... my 7 string V i built i put both strap buttons on the back side of the guitar, recessed into the body, one is just below the neck heel on the upper side of the guitar, the other is kind of in the middle of the upper half of the V...

Is that the one you were thinking about torching? I'm not up to much Saturday if you want to have a go at it...

^ Yep, one and the same
I could be free on saturday as well, I'm not in a hurry to fire up a blowtorch in my flat though... need a venue for our little BBQ. Elysian, thanks for the info, I'll give it a go near the middle of the V. |

If you find somewhere I can give 7DT's a ring too. He's an expert at torching guitars.
