The big list of pickups (7 only)

We have a big list of seven string guitars, how 'bout pickups?

I'll try to keep this starter post updated by editing in whatever you guys post up.

I'd like to know what all is out there, specifically for sevens.

Plus, as an added bonus, I'll try to keep tabs on the ratings, too. So, if you can rate three categories, I'll keep a spreadsheet and average out the ratings.

Brilliant idea bostjan!

One question: what do you have in mind for 'convenience'? Are you thinking ease of installation?

Kent Armstrong makes quite a few 7-string pickups.

Single Coil -
ST7E1
ST7E1R (Reverse wound)
TC7E1R (Telecaster bridge style)

Humbucker -
ST70B (Bridge)
ST7oN (Neck)
HP7E1 (Closed cover, like EMG sorta)

http://www.wdmusic.com/7_string_guitar_13617_ctg.htm

Tom Anderson makes Warmoth 2 7-string pickup models.

Single Coil -
7SPUVS1

Humbucker -
7SPUN (Neck)
7SPUB (Bridge)

http://www.warmoth.com/pickups/picku...ickups_7string

Don't forget Bartolini. (Taken from their catalog)

Humbuckers -

492C-B - Warm Humbucker for neck or bright bridge.
494-D - Deeper HB for bridge - near PAF output.
4CTA - Equal coil / unequal response / high clarity.
4D-01 - Neck side of "Grunge Pair" - very good mids.
4D-03 - Bridge side of "Grunge Pair" - deep, raw power.

Hmm, I thought I added the Armstrong and Anderson pickups, I guess the edit didn't go through.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Oh yeah, convenience is how convenient it was to install and wire properly.

Anyone have a rating yet?

in many intervews Dino mention that when EMG was working with him on the 707 design they made a limited run of those pickups (first year production of this model or even something like pre factory). Then they decided to change something I don't remember what was that all about, less highs or something and today it is a normal 707.

I know that some time ago 707DC were for sale on some websites. and theye are actives too (bostjan so please mark it in right place)

EDIT: I found only this one on the web. I remember that there were some reviews on HC but that was like 3 years ago and now I don't see them. Could someone aske some people How 707DC sound comparing to normal 707 and is it custom and can we still buy it??

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/pluged...o_cazares.html

"IBANEZ: What about your guitars?
DINO: I’m using custom made Ibanez 7-string RG’s, with EMG 707-DC model pickups, but I also like the regular EMG 707 pickups. I just have a chorus pedal for effect when I do the clean tones. I’m a pretty straightforward, ripping kind of guy (laughs)."

Bostjan, just on Bareknuckle Pickups there is no such thing as a Custom 7. All of their 7 string pickups are custom winds and if you like the sound of a particular pickup but would like more treble or more bass Tim will wind it accordingly. Additionally your list is far too short for them. Bareknuckle will produce ALL of their range in 7 string variants (apart from Tele neck pickups). That includes single coils. Therefore you can get the following 7 string humbuckers:

HUMBUCKERS

Vintage

Stormy Monday Humbucker
The Mule Humbucker
Riff Raff Humbucker

Vintage Hot
VHII Humbucker
Black Dog Humbucker
Emerald Humbucker
Abraxas Humbucker

Contemporary

Holydiver Humbucker
Cold Sweat Humbucker
Miracle Man Humbucker
Nailbomb Humbucker
Warpig Humbucker

Signature Series
Geoff Whitehorn - 'Crawler' Humbucker
Steve Stevens - 'Rebel Yell' Humbucker

Not even remotely close! The JP7 bridge pickup is the anti-Blaze. I don't even know how to describe it. It sounds kind of like how Bob said the DropSonic7 sounded. As for the JP7 neck pickup, it could be like an Air Norton 7, but I'm not sure... I just know it's awesome.

Thanks again! I didn't totally forget Carvin, I just couldn't remember the model number for the bridge pickup.

Anyone know anything about the Duncan Designed Pickups? I have some in my Samick POS, and I've played them in the Schecter Avenger 7, I think these two use the same pickups, or at least something very similar.

What are the cheapies in the Washburn X-17, WG-587, the Fernandez Revolver, and the Deans? Are they just no name pickups? Are they all made in the same Korean factory?

According to Steve Bluecher, who told me in a e-mail, the JP7 bridge is more like the Blaze Custom. Based on Nick's info, and the fact that JP switched, I'd say it's sorta like a BC/DS combo.

The neck is like a louder Air Norton, with a bit more bite, yet more dark tonality. Again, this is all according to Steve.

I'm not personally aware of any serial number for the JP7 pickups, but knowing Dimarzio, for internal reasons, there probably is.

Nice job, BTW, Bostjan!

BTW, could this be stickied? As it's just a list of the pickups available - maybe you can crosslist it with the pickups review thread, Bostjan.
