You too man

I'd definitely go with BKP 8's over Nordstrands. Mike told me he intends to use BKPs in his guitars later on anyways.

Yeah, and that's the main gripe I have about the guitar. The playability and everything else about it is great, but it has an ice pick bright tone character that I have trouble dialing out. I asked Tim and he recommended a set of calibrated Warpigs, although I forget if he said ceramic or alnico 5.

Well, this is your solution man. As I described above, I had the same problems with my bright-ass Vixen. BKPs are the cure. I'd try an alnico Nailbomb/Warpig first. If somehow someway it wasn't good enough for you, I could work out an exchange.

Seriously if you have the means, you need to try these. I wish I had known about BKP years ago. Thank you Mr. McIlroy for opening my eyes!

That's a good question. There's a common misconception that the Cold Sweat is the 'go to' neck pickup that BKP makes. While it is an incredible pickup (in both positions), that perception is really because Chris Broderick uses them (in both the bridge and neck, or in the neck paired with a Nailbomb). The important thing to keep in mind is when you order a calibrated set of ANY model, he designs the neck model completely different than the bridge in order to get the best possible tone and balance. This is unlike other brands whose 'neck model' is simply just a lower output version of the bridge. It's a completely different pickup is the thing to keep in mind.

So to answer your question, while you can get cool combinations by using different models in each position certainly, but getting a calibrated set of any of his models is going to produce a great sounding pickup in both positions. I've heard great things about most of their models in the neck, including some of their more vintagy models.

That said, some popular combos I've been noticing are the Warpig B/Nailbomb N, Miracle Man B/Cold Sweat N, Holydiver set, and Warpig set.

Tim recommended a warpig for My Sg a long time ago and I dont really know what has been holding me back.

What is a reasonable price to get one for in Canada...or US? I really need to get this damn Duncan SH-5 outta there. It's just not doing it for me.

so i guess you'll be playing that guitar tomorrow, then?

can i try it through my amp on tuesday? and how much more would a Nailbomb bridge + suitable neck pickup cost me, compared to Blackouts?

Yeah I planned on playing the new Vixen at the show tomorrow, but I think I'll be forced to play this one. I don't mind, but the white one has a thinner neck and weighs less I'd prefer to play that one all things being equal.

I'll give you the price on AIM.
