What bridge pickup in a maple/mahogany neck-through?

I need to order the pickup for my build to make a routing template. It's going in a maple neck through with mahogany wings. The guitars is only going to have one pickup, so I'm looking for something versatile. I was originally thinking of getting a single Blackout, but I don't know if a Blackout in the bridge does reasonably usable cleans. So the other choices I came up with were the Evo and D-sonic 7s.

Anyone got any suggestions?

umm, since youre in the uk, i think theyre like 10 pounds more, id save for a paycheck and get a bkp. Nailbomb is an obvious option, since you like that output range. the cold sweat bridge is pretty cool too

seeing as you're in the UK, i would look into Bare Knuckle. i love Dimarzios but, BKP seems like a way better option for you. i'll be able to find out for myself either this week or next when my Warpig/ Cold Sweat pickups come in.

EDIT: ibznorange beat me to it

I have a bit more experience with the medium output bkps, namely the black dog, abraxas, and emerald. they all slay like hell too

BKPs are pretty expensive, I think the 7 string ones are £99, whereas I could get a Dimarzio or SD for a lot cheaper from the US.

if you can get one shipped there. US dimarzio dealers are contractually restricted from selling pickups outside of the country

dtrax is a jewel in the rough
I have a Tonezone6 in my Carvin DC127- same woods combo as well. even though the TZ6 is a bass/mid heavy PU, a lot of the tone comes from the maple, so there's quite a bit of snap but not too shrill. It's a great tone for lead playing - it really sings. It's not juicy enough for rhythm/palm mutes personally, but it can 'djent' pretty hard. Loads of clarity.

All in all, I'd go for a darker PU to tone down the brightness of the maple - mahogany wings don't affect the sound much at all IMO.

Yes, you could, and yes, it is cheaper, but, look at it this way, why scrimp on the pickup? Seriously, BKP's ARE worth the cash, they really are.

Ever wonder why you never see any for sale second hand? Talk to tim, tell him what you want and what it's going in.

Plus the cleans are simply the best I've heard, they are absolutely gorgeous.

Trust me, spend the extra cash, it is well worth it, it really is.
