DiMarzio Breed?

Anyone have experience with these? After reading about them, they seem quite appealing. Vintage style with a little more output. I like the PAF's that were in the Gibson I used to own, they didn't scream or grind like 'modern' pickups, instead they were warm and chunky, which is the sound i'm going for.

I plan on putting this into my Schecter Damien A-1. Basswood body.

I really liked the mirror toppedJem that I played that comes with those stock. My girlfriend at the time worked in a music store that had one and I played that guitar a few times a week just because I could, so i got a good feel for it. You pretty much described them in a nutshell.

Sweet, I love the PAF sound, but wanted a little more power, so these sounded like a perfect fit.

Can't wait to get this + Evo neck in green

Breeds rock. Unfortunately there's no 7 string version....

Except this custom that I found on Ebay:

DBK != BRMR

DBK: most hideous guitar ever built by Ibanez:

BRMR: shittiest build quality JEM ever, but sounded killer and looked good (from 2 meters away anyhow):

NOTE: I exaggerate for effect. Don't get offended.

i had it in my RGA for like a week and thought it was too midrangey. the crunch in the lower range was great, but it sounded like junk for leads to me. Too much pick attack. but the RGA tended to sound thin and snappy to me anyway.

I never tried Breeds in anything I've owned, but after installing some for a customer in an RG, I really gained a respect for them. They don't sound like other Dimarzio pickups to my ears, but they have a more "energetic" sound than PAF's.

I put the breed neck in the bridge position of my cheap-o ltd, that's the only reason why I still have that guitar. It sounds great.

Looks like i'll be ordering a breed soon.

I appreciate the power of more modern sounding pickups... But I just can't get over the chunk and clarity of more vintage designs.

As I said, the SG I sold a few months ago (Which, come to find out, was a 'gothic' left over they tung-oiled to get the ebony boards out of the factory) had PAF style pickups, and they had almost no output compared to the stuff I have now, but boy did they sing.

...I miss that guitar.
