Fret Wear
I'm going to be selling a guitar soon that I've had for about 3-4 years and it has some fret wear but I'm not sure how to describe it when I'm selling it. I can't really get a decent picture with my camera but the wear is on the top half of most of the frets where the G,B and E strings are. I would say it's mostly mild fret wear as you can almost make out here (really couldn't get a great picture with my camera and there are lots of shadows that look like scrapes):
![]() But there are a few places where it's slightly worse like this: ![]() I know it's hard to say for sure with the photos I've given you but any idea how I would describe the fret wear or if it's so bad that I might need to get a fret dress before I sell it? I think I would say it's mild fret wear but I'm not sure ![]() |

I think the best thing is to show the pics to the potential buyer. Some might describe it as "mild", others as "minimal". Even some (nitpicky types like myself) might consider it a deal breaker, depending on the price.
By the way, why does the fretboard have binding in the top pic but not the bottom? |

The second one is just a picture from google! I couldn't capture the worst areas of wear but they're pretty similar to the second picture. They do look a bit different don't they!

I wouldn't post 2 different guitar pics in your auction, people who don't read clearly will be scared away from it, thinking you're a scammer.

Maybe they won't notice the difference
Of course I won't be posting that picture in the auction, I'll probably snap some better ones when I'm actually going to list it and I can take the strings off to avoid their reflection messing with the picture. |
