PICKUPS: Need some suggestions...
Im going to put some new pickups in my RG7421 after we paint it, and Im trying to decide on which to get. I really want zebra style pickups, because they will look awesome with the paintjob...
Finished product it going to look very similar to this ![]() Dimarzio is the only company I've found that has white/black 7 string pickups, but Im not sure which will fit my playing/tone style...however there is only two choices that I can find, the Tone Zone and Air Norton....I like a pretty chunky and tight tone with a fair bit of low end and mids with not too much gain. Lots of balls and beefyness... If you want to hear some samples of my stuff to get an idea, go here MySpace.com - Glasgow Smile - Wagoner/Muskogee/Tulsa, Oklahoma - Metal / Death Metal / Progressive - www.myspace.com/theglasgowsmileband |

I would totally avoid the Tonezone 7 as its quite possibly the worst pickup dimarzio makes - nothing like the 6 string version.
If you like low end and mids try an evolution - it comes in zebra form too. The air norton 7 is pretty scweet. Remember to post pics when your 7 is complete. btw - if you haven't check out the huge thread in that forum about pickup selection (believe its a sticky). If you like the Tone Zone 6 and want to continue to respect it, DO NOT play the TZ7.
AN7 is really good, though. Almighty asmodeus, existant of chaos Ominous be thy name Thy kingdom come on earth Lead me into all temptation of my flesh So I may trespass greatly into Thy ways by my desires ~Fornicatus Benefictus http://www.myspace.com/impurity Brutal Skullfucking Death Metal |

How about dual air norton 7s? Unfortunately, the tonezone 7 sucks. I vote dual AN7s or an Evo7 + an7

IF you want to avoid having too much gain, how about a Swineshead CL7? They'll make the pickups to look pretty much however you ask. The Dimarzio Evolution is a very harmonically active pickup, and it might have a little excess in the upper-mid department for you, although I love the pickup.
You pretty much can't go wrong with the AN7, but if you want to be different, you could get a matching set of CL7's, since I only know of two people who have those pickups. |

I cant find an Evo with black/white? Anyone know where I can find one? The dual AN's sound pretty tempting as well.
The Swineshead pickups sound tempting too but the exchange rate is brutal... |
