Pickup change on a Loomis?
I havent bought it yet, but I'm planning to do it soon, and I wanted to try something different this time.
Anyone have tried the regular 60 in a maple/ash guitar? I'm considering it because the general consensus is that it has the best clean sound of the three. EMG says the 60 is the brightest pickup thet make, so it may be a bit overpowering on the highs, even at the neck position... The 81 on the bridge is discarded for the same thing, I guess Any input? And how does the 60 work for soloing on the neck compared to the 707? The same goes for blackouts, would them be too harsh for ash/maple? I need some advice, guys! ![]() EDIT: Damn, wrong forum, please move the thread ![]() |

I just got my loomis sig about 2 weeks ago and I have to say the clean tone on the 707's surprised me. They do, as others have said, actually sound like a fat single coil on clean, very bright and clear with a certain fullness to it and since the guitar is made out of maple and ash, i would expect it to sound noticably brighter than the hellraiser. To be honest i doubt you'd need to change them.
