String sizes for seven string custom

alrighty, i am getting a Custom 7 made by RAN guitars sometime next year and was pondering over the thought of the proper gauge. now i know with alot of guitarists it is a matter of taste and preference.

but i thought, what would be the best gauges for a seven string guitar.

this bad ass axe i'm getting done will be a 27" scale length neck with graphite nut and tonepros tune-o-matic bridge with graphite saddles, and got to wondering what would be the best gauge for a SEVEN of this type tuned in B standard.

any thoughts?

one gauge (Or, if you can find it, 1/2 gauge) smaller would get close to the same tension, if that's what your after.

the D'addario 10-59 set is pretty good.

would that be good for technical death metal, i do alot of bends on these strings, i have played GHS 60 gauge sets on my 6 string 25.5" scale. i would jsut like the best tension, the best thickness, and best feel, and i want that perfect low B sound without it sounding sloppy or thin.

I'd do 10-50+ a 60 for the low B. Just my taste though, I'd probably do a hybrid set of 10-52s actually...
I'd go a bit lighter on the low ones if that's what you prefer, the extra scale length will help string tension. I just like heavy strings.

That would work, you'd have a lot of tension though, especially on the longer scale, which is why I recommended the 10-52s.

I use 11-70 tuned standard on standard scale. Going to try 10-64 or 68 optimum tension set tuned standard on my baritone when I get it.

i most likely won't play a gauge any larger than say a 65 if it's gunna be tuned to B

if i was playing on a barition scale id be using 9 - 52 or 54 max
