7 string pickup please?

im thinking of upgradin my rg1527

i use an evo in the bridge of my strat atm, and love it.
also, my jem has a d sonic in the bridge and evo neck, they all sound perfect.
i love dave weiners 7 string tone, its growly and tight..so i was wondering if you can reccomend a pickup?
im using a mesa nomad thats boosted with a bad monkey, its jsut nice with my evo on my basswood strat.

I really like the Evo 7 I have in my Dean 7 string, it sounds great in basswood. Not the most aggressive tone ever though... but my idea of an aggressive tone is more in the EMG 707/81-7 Lundgren M7 range. An Evo is pretty tame by my standards still.

i agree with the evo7 if that´s your juice... but if you want something like dave weiner´s tone, he uses blazes and paf7´s... so really, it depends on what music you play!

Since you're thinking about the Evo, and you like Dave Weiner's tone, a Blaze Custom might be a good compromise between the Blaze/PAF sound and the Evo. It's like the Blaze, but with more mids and tighter bass, sort of like a cross between a D-Sonic and an Evo. It's also (IMO) way more versatile than either the Blaze or the Evo.

hmm, keep suggestions coming guys

i might be orderin this week!!

and i also like the tones of nevermore.

lots of evo7 suggestions and i like the evo very much in my basswood strat..it might be top choice.

i spoke to dave the other day and he suggested the blaze to me also..but somthing keeps telling my evo is my ticket.

my amp is a mesa nomad boosted with bad monkey, a rather dark amp..

LEWY7777777 is a jewel in the rough
Dimarzio 7 pickups

Dave Weiner uses all the 7 string pickups except the x2n7 and dactivators according to the website based on that it is hard to make a decision , I am going through the same thing right now because all the dimarzios are so tasty-I just want an easy way out and buy another emg or a duncan and go no more worrying about what pickup to get...but no. No. I would still crave the mouthwatering flavors of the D's. With dimarzios- you need them all. thats what I am convinced of as of this moment. Weiner and other pros all seem to agree. Our problem is, maybe we can't buy enough ibanezes to swap more pickups into. The endless combinations run through my mind. Well my RG7321 can't wait either. I personally believe the Dactivators may be the prime for this axe- although I already have a fantastic shredder-the Schecter C-7 hellraiser with707's as of saturday. I really liked my emg81-7 in my alder bodied jackson dr7T. Blaze or Blaze custom realy cant go wrong there but because in my opinion the bridge realy needs that bright aggressive crunchy bass response and a good palmute tone, then maybe evo neck in neck for dual mode for cascading like lead runs and screaming solos. I beleive I have finally found what I want I have enjoyed conversing with you all on this matter. Sorry about the full page front page news runon sentence. PEACE customblaze @ bridge-evo neck @neck.

^incorrect, the site says that because he may use them in different guitars..but when i spoke to dave in person the other day, he told me he uses a custom wound dimarzio thats similar to a P.A.F7 but hotter..

also, i love his sound but gettin his pickup wont nail it, he uses a vht ultralead head that makes the sound VERY tight.

so i think its between the evo and the blaze right now.

The Evolution 7 is my favorite seven string Dimarzio.
The harmonics really stand out. It's truly clear and articulate and the output is pretty hot. It doesn't have the rounded tone of the Blaze, though.
