How to install a normal size PU to a EMG7 size PU cavity???

I was just wondering, that I like the Schecter Damien, and the C-7 but they have I hate active PU's, so I would change them, but is it possible? And if yes, there would be a big space between the PU and the wood (which would be ugly?) . . .hope you get what I mean...

www.fretsonthenet.com produce pickup rings that cover the hole left by EMG installation. Alternatively you can fill the hole, but it looks ugly without refinishing. Hope that helps!

I always wondered why somone hasnt made pickup covers similar to these?

But in the shape of EMG's 7-string pickups, but made so they cover regular sized 7-string pickups. So there is no need for larger pickup rings or cavity filling?

That would kick ass haha

As Simon said, Frets on the Net do a conversion ring. Noodles swapped an EMG for a Duncan in his Soloist 7, so you could PM him for more info if you feel you need it.

But there's no other way to install the PU's? I mean, you know, just screw them in, the only problem would be the big hole....

Do a search for "707 to Lundgren M7" conversion, or something like that, in this forum, which is a picstory about this very thing. I just used high density foam to fill the cavity, which also helps stabilize the pickup and aid feedback resistance just a little bit. You can get the extra large rings from FOTN, but then you still have to screw it down or use doublesided tape to secure the ring down to the body.

THE SIMPLEST APPROACH TO THIS WOULD BE FOR EMG TO GET WITH THE PROGRAM & MAKE THEIR 7 STRING PICKUPS FIT IN THE SAME ROUTING CAVITY AS STANDARD 7 STRING PICKUPS ALA DIMARZIO/DUNCAN/LUNGREN, ETC...

THAT'S ALWAYS BEEN MY BIGGEST BEEF WITH ANY GUITAR THAT CAME WITH EMG 7'S AS OEM.

Is it a bad idea that I take out the EMG HZs, and take out the stuff from the "cover", and put it to a normal size pu.... If the screw holes match it's ok?

Or not?

EMG fills all the empty space inside the pickup cover with epoxy. It is impossible to disassemble it without ruining the pickup and the cover.

I think the adapter rings made by Frets on the Net look pretty good. I think noodles' Soloist looks really great with one of those supporting the Duncan.

Putting a passive pickup in side an EMG size housing could fuck with the pickups sound a bit.
Not like a metal pickup cover would but they'll still make the actual pickup farther away from the strings and could interfere with the signal a bit,and besides, nobody makes them anyway.

Those EMG to Passive adapter pickup-rings are the best idea and they look all neat and tidy too,or do it Like Dendro did his if you really don't want to put screws in your guitar.
