Alcophail

Am I the only one in the world who doesn't drink, and yet still manges to get effected by those who does, and is exempt from social activites because nowadays, social activities aren't good unless you can't remember them.

You think oh, alcohol kinda ruined my childhood, I'll avoid that shit. And yet it haunts you in later life, taunting you with its amber evil.

Is there anyone out there who thinks that stuff is fail?

Any pleasure can be taken to extremely unhealthy levels especally by those who have no control. Generally those kinds of people are already dangerous in one way or another.

I wouldn't directly blame the object but those without that control.

I dont drink. I do drink a beer with a meal though. But I do try to get intoxicated once or twice a year. For example, going to get drunk with friends on Tuesday for my birthday, then girlfriend is driving us all to the strip club.

The sanctity of this place has been fouled.

You don't drink, but you know it's good?

Don't take anything I say here personally, I'm just here to talk about guitars while I'm not watching Brazzers.

yeah its funny how that works.

im not a big fan of alcohol, or drinking, or partying that involves being drunk. I am 100% more likely to have a ton of fun if i'm in a really good mood, vs if im drinking/drunk.

I prefer a good concert over a good house party - it confuses 99.9 of the people i know. they understand it, but they dont agree with it.

I try not to drink. Two weeks ago, I decided not to drink anymore after I ended up throwing up on my friends floor and passing out on his sofa. Then at a party on Saturday I didn't drink all night but then everyone started doing tequila shots so I joined in. I had 7 and I was kind of alright then a Jack D and coke tipped me over the edge.

I will fully admit I am a lightweight and I cannot handle my drink. I'll have a couple of pints if everyone else is drinking, but other than that, .... it off.

I just can't see the whole thing about going out and getting drunk being a good night? I've seen people like that, and what happens, and it disgusts me. Considering 90% of people I know drink, and most of those too much, how am I supposed to have a social life with those people? I grew up seeing what alcohol does to people, so I want nothing to do with it. I just want to be happy and enjoy being around my friends. But apparently alcohol is the key to a social life nowadays, and without it, I am out cast.

Some friends of mine that are now off at college decided to join a frat, aka turning into alcoholics, and since they've been doing all this pledging/drinking shit they're gradepoints dropped down to about a 0.8 and they almost flunked out in one semester

I think drink is fail but I still hang around with people who drink. Having said that my mates (despite being "metallers") don't actually get hammered, so I'm lucky in that regard.

Just find different friends to hang around with at night.

Another aspect of alcohol, my mum is currently getting drunk in a park because she is like that. Hence why I don't like the shit.

It is far better to avoid being an obsessive, dependent twat than to avoid a substance that really isn't even responsible for that in the first place. It's not like alcohol breaks into your system, shits in your stereo, and ruins your life whether you want to drink or not - you have ....ing *choices*, and exercising those intelligently is the key to not being a useless dolt. Yet another case of blaming everything but individual responsibility... whee...

There's nothing wrong with choosing not to drink, but blaming alcohol for problems when personality deficiencies are really to blame is the kind of dumb mistake we've been trying to let ourselves make for decades with no great results. However, we all know the Hicks quote about quitting drugs due to bad experiences...

I only drink now when I go to big parties or visit friends out of town. Most of my drink every weekend though. I still hangout with them, I just don't drink. Sure I occasionally get shit for it but it's not a big deal.

Jeff nailed it completely.
Alcohol ain't gonna .... your life. You .... your life with alcohol, not the other way around.
Choose not to drink? cool
Choose to drink? That's okay too.
As long as you're in control at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you do or don't drink.

Some of the most talented musicians on earth drink.
Joe Satriani apparently is a fan of wine.
Out very own own Doug Steele has stated to me on msn he doesn't mind alcohol and the guy is a ....ing guitar virtuoso nut and has a reputation of being one of the coolest guitar teachers in all of Melbourne.

I go to parties a fair bit.
Sometimes I drink. Other times I don't drink even when everyone else is, just depends on how I feel. As long as you've got that kinda control, it's all cool.

I'm not denying that it is an individual responsibility, but it seems to bring a lot more trouble than its worth, and I hate the whole stigma attached to it nowadays. I find it 'easier' to avoid it all together.
