Fuel Efficient Wagons
Okay, so right now I'm driving a 2001 Ford Explorer from Fredericksburg to Springfield everyday getting 15 MPG!!! For those of you who don't know Virginia, that equals to driving almost 100 miles a day, every day for me.
So, I'm looking for a Wagon that gets great gas mileage and still has room for a full stack. So far I've found the Scion xB, the Pontiac Vibe, the Saturn Vue and the Honda Element. The only catch is I want to keep it under $20,000. The Scion would almost be perfect, except for the fact that it was my friends idea first to get one

The Scion and Element are definetly the most practical, the Scion is out because me friend is probably getting one, and we've had the same model of vehicle two times in a row (
) I'm afraid the Element will be too expensive Edit: I just checked, I can get a used Element under $20,000 :ponders: |

If you're considering used, take a look at the VW Jetta TDI wagon. It'll carry a lot of stuff, and you'll get close to 800 miles on a tank of diesel.

I was just looking at the 2008 Honda Element, they look MUCH better than the old ones. And they're around 20,000 new. Plus, the interior on those things is just sick! hmmm.. |

The Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix (they're the same car with some different body panels) is a solid choice, and the gas mileage on the mid-line one is pretty decent, even with the automatic. For cheap, the Nissan Versa and Honda Fit are both doing pretty well. They're very small, but the flexible interiors actually make it easier to haul stuff than in some of the bigger cars... Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook, and Soundclick might eventually be updated, too.

I thought about looking at the Honda Fit as well.
The Pontiac Vibe is definetly a good choice with 29-36 MPG |

If you look up the specs on the Element, you'll find that its fuel economy isn't spectacular. Roughly 20/28 MPG. Better than your Explorer, but not great.

darren, that link just brought me to a search page.
And, holy shit, Honda is where it's at, I just looked at the interior options of the Fit and it's just awesome! At a great price too, and averaging 30 MPG? |

I had that problem when I was considering buying a Prius. I actually found one coming in the next week at the Toyota place I bought my car from, but I would have had to commit to buy it sight-unseen. They couldn't even tell me for sure what color it was,all they knew was that time next week they'd have a Prius on the lot that wasn't currently sold to anyone. I ended up passing for a Camry - I got a much better deal on that than I would have on the Prius, got better financing, and didn't feel like chancing it. I'd also just started my current job, so I wasn't sure if I could swing the difference in payments. Part of me regrets it, but the Camry was probably the more practical decision.
