Why do I need to discuss philosophy??!!

I often feel a need to persuade people of the validity of my beliefs, and am constantly trying to overcome ignorance (in myself and others).

I am agnostic, so I don't figure that (omniscient) God has it all under control, so all the more pressure that it's up to "me/us" to find meaning, value and purpose.

As a "philosopher" I've taken on the noble quest (?) of redeeming the world through the triumph of wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

I have great faith in humanity.
Apparently we know 5% of what we will scientifically know in 50yrs.

I wonder if people will understand religion and philosophy any better then, or peacefully allow for spiritual growth, without dogma.

Not giving a S**t seems like suicide to me !!

as does Buddhist Nirvana.

PLEASE HELP !!!

I don't see philosophy, I see meandering with 'fancy' words thrown in.

If you are searching for coherence then I guess you are on my side !!

As for "fancy words" I can try to restrict my terminology for your tastes/ limitations.

If you find a search for knowledge pointless then is that my problem??

Searching for knowledge isn't pointless, talking forever without making any points is.

Apparently when the Buddha achieved enlightenment, he touched the ground and called the earth to witness his enlightenment.

Did his action have any purpose?

In standard etiqutte for debates it is customary to start with a broad description for the context and issues. This is not just opinionated statements, this is a question about the purposes of opinion itself.

Did....did you just call yourself a philosopher?
What philosophy have you actually read?
Really, humor me. Because nowhere in what you just typed did I find an iota of philosophy, or even any sense.

I just noticed this, so since you were condescending to me, I'll stop being so polite to you.

Ahem.

What you're posting is not philosophic in the least. At best it's pointless meandering and by "fancy" I mean not that you're using large or hard to figure out words, I mean you're using words that sound important or deep to you, when really you're just rambling and not saying anything. At worst, and this is how I see it, it's embarrassing to think that someone can think they can just toss out words they read in their philosophy 101 class and think they're fooling anyone into thinking they are within 1,000,000,000,000 functional brain cells of being an intellectual.

Not one thing you've posted would be of any benefit to anyone, in any circumstance ever, apart from an example of what kind of garbage they should turn in to flunk any philosophy course

What he means is you don't really pose any question or thesis. I can see where you were going, but you could easily be going several directions.

What kind of thread are you trying to start???

There's no glue, it is just a bunch of statements.

It's a way of expression, when you score a goal, you don't slowly walk back to your position, you sprint around and gloat to the crowd.

Buddhism relies on natural balance from Earth and its habitants, i've only read minimal information on the topic of buddhism and to be honest, I'm still not grasping your posts.

As Highlord said, seems like you've talked before you've thought, gather your thoughts and structure them please

I simply stated that I have philosophy, I did not feel a need to elaborate too early. Hopefully you understand that such a category as "philosophy" exists.

Please come up with an actual thought, not just some sentences stung together, and then start another thread.

I love talking philosophy, I can't stand reading words randomly tossed together that are supposed to be "totally deep maaaaaaan".

OK OK,

this is not just a chance for me to spout opinion.

I am struggling with NIHILISM (yes that word exists!)

I am also struggling with the fact that many people don't give a shit what I think, or whether I live or die.

Do you still think that this is pointless?

The meaning of life is to give life meaning.

In honesty, very few people care what you think or do. So go out, live, and stop giving a .... about other people giving a .... about you.
