Also, knowing martial arts =/= automatically being good at fighting. For instance, if he's taking Karate or Tae Kwon Do, chances are he can't fight for jack shit. Muay Thai, BJJ, Bokator, etc. and he's probably going to be a bit better. But regardless, on nice fist to the chin will put anyone in a daze.

Um a trained dude in karate or tae kwon doe would destroy someone who isn't trained in anything. Against other martial arts they're pretty useless i.e a wrestler but against a normal dude it would prolly go "shin to the chin goodnight".

I'm sure that's what a lot of of people trained in those thought, right up until they got their asses kicked by someone that wasn't.

Seriously, that makes no sense at all. That's like saying whoever takes more guitar lessons is a better guitarist, which obviously isn't the case.

Not to mention... some of the ones that are great in controlled environments (while fighting someone that learned the same moves as them) tend to panic out on the street when their opponent uses moves that don't gracefully fit into their practiced routines.
