"Instead of creating those isotopes in multimillion-dollar cyclotrons and then rushing them to patients, what if he could build a fusion reactor small enough, cheap enough and safe enough to produce isotopes as needed, in every hospital in the world?"
I see a rich kid in the future. But anyways, the chances of radioactive leaks and a possibility of nuclear accident is high, even though he's a genius... This kid must be stopped. If he wanna do this, get a professional lab and do it. is the new blackRIP PETER STEELE Music: * www.soundclick.com/leandroabaurre *www.soundcloud.com/leandroab Guitar projects: *Baritone 6 Conversion Quotes: * ''I intend them to .... them with the long cock of the law." - Trashmanzac * "I think this mistake was the equivalent of a 6000 foot tall cock bukkake tsunami-ing Tokyo." - metallisuk * "I'm a big fan of the effects of alcohol." - Peter Steele |

yet another perfect example that today you just need a vision, motivation and persistence to get awesome shit done. not expensive lab equipment, nor expensive education.
i think the same applies to gear and musicianship. |

I wonder if his parents are humble about his accomplishments? You know what I mean? How most parents think their kids are geniuses?
... maybe they think he's mediocre? That would be a neat spin on reality. |

Most nuclear reactors, as in, all of them, are nuclear fission reactors - they rely on the decay of radioactive materials (usually uranium) to generate power. There's a lot of different flavors of fission reactors, but most current ones are frankly behind the curve and it's very difficult to bring new ones online in a post chernobyl/3 mile island/fukushima world. I could talk about all three of those but it's not really the place for it.
Fusion reactors - well, you're already pretty familiar with fusion reactors, you see one every day. The sun, yo. Fusion reactors fuse particles together, and through a variety of means could generate power. That is, theoretically. No fusion reactor to date has broken even, they all require as much or more energy put into them to maintain the fusion reaction, and do not produce even the smallest iota of energy. However, they would provide completely clean, safe, and vast amounts of energy once they pass the break-even point. No one really knows how far away that is at that point, it's been "fifty years" away since the 1950's. |

One of the downsides of fusion however is the resultant temperatures of 600 million degrees.
Which is why finally figuring out cold fusion will lead us into the age of Futurama. |
