So I came across this video and I can't promote this enough. I SO wish people would promote THIS video for gay kids instead of the pandering nonsense they have as some halfassed form of "support"

I went into this video expecting a guy complaining at people who want help and I was pleasantly surprised. His video seems more inspirational than most communities designed for the same purpose.

One thing I didn't like was his bit on morality, and "fear of religion in schools" leading to little assholes with no moral compass. Morality, I feel, is something deeply engrained in humanity. People know it's wrong to hurt feelings, steal, kill etc inherently. Religion might just drill it in deeper with irrational bribery and fear of never-ending BBQ. I grew up "godless". From as young as I can remember, I was an atheist. I didn't even learn about the ten commandments stuff until my teens, yet I haven't bullied, stolen, raped, killed, etc. It's not a lack of religion, or society's fault that these assholes are assholes.

Bullying has always happened. The only thing that has changed is those in authority deem all targets unacceptable instead of allowing (or turning a blind eye to) bullying of minorities.

As far as bullying always occuring, ofcourse. As long as people are insecure they will lash out.

I don't think he was saying that bullying is worse because of not teaching religion, or that morality and religion are linked but rather that PC .... heads thought that morality was too close to religion and it was a stupid ....ing decision to stop teaching it in school.

I doubt small penises cause people to be bullies, and I doubt most bullies are closeted homosexuals. My point was that bullying has existed regardless of what has been taught in schools, or isn't being taught now. He even makes the point when he says that hate crimes don't stop rape and murder. That is a direct contradiction of claiming that correct teaching will stop bullying.

its funny, as a kid, and a new comer to the country, i used to get bullied quiet a lot. and mainly on stuff i didn't know, such as the lingos of the everyday 'english' spoken in canada. but there were those who were fixated on my 'package' and were always curious to find out how 'big' i was. they never liked it when i turned the tables on em though...

The only way of determining if something has increased is by having concrete numbers from different points, which obviously don't exist.

Really, the point becomes moot as to if bullying (or whatever negative behavior) has increased over generations; its poor behavior and has a negative actions should be taken at a societal level to combat.

Damn, somebody gets "it". I'm all for cracking down on bullies and whatnot, but at the end of the day, it still won't entirely save people. It's all gonna come down to them standing up for themselves. I encourage my fellow LGBT family members to learn proper self defense and how to protect themselves. I've always been of the mind that violence is a last resort (usually a good tongue lashing and quick wit will handle most situations), but it may be the only way to get the point across. It may be that it's the only language that your bully understands, so learn to speak fluently in it.

I used to be VERY passive and let people walk all over me. Then, very stupidly, I'd wonder why they would walk all over me and pick on me. It came to me that it was because I allowed it. I didn't ask them to stop most of the time, and when I did, I didn't sound serious or assertive. Once I started standing up for myself and telling people to back the .... off, or face a giant ham fist in the face, I stopped being treated like crap and people even started to show me respect. Being a talented musician helped in that regard too.
