Nickleback doesn't suck for once

This local band Parden My Striptease wrote a song dedicated to a little girl who is battling brain cancer; I went to school with her father. Basically they challenged Nickleback to match the donations for the childrens hospital if they passed them on the itune charts and take number 1.

And they did it! I just think it was pretty cool that a band like that took a challenge like that

Nickelback comes through with $50,000 donation in B.C. hospital challenge - The Globe and Mail

I don't think whether Nickelback were decent human beings was ever the question. It was always (and still is) that their music is bad.

Considering their bad music is what allowed them to make such a donation, maybe it isn't so bad after all.

I don't like their music, but that's irrelevant, enough people obviously do. Good on them.

We get it, no one likes their music and they suck.
Obviously those opinions aren't universal or they
wouldn't sell millions of records and do world tours.

Can we just get over the fact we don't like them and
talk about things we do like?

If this was a topic about bands we liked, then yeah, we could.

Also, have you heard of something called a wise minority? It's a fun little concept I like to invoke when people argue about things like this.

Yeah if the majority was right, Bieber would be the best artist EVER
The majority was always dumb, caring about the most futile things.
Of course generalizations are crap but when talking about majority/minority, this thought always made sense
Besides that I almost always disagreed to what the majority likes, the most famous roots artists like Hendrix, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and so many others were never in my 'I like it' list, I'm so proud and happy of having different tastes than the majority

Nickleback is the forefront of metal. Its just so sad to see so many in the scene deny this. You are all nothing but a bunch of hipsters that ran out of coffee and granola. If you ever drove a truck commercially or waited 10 hours for a deer to show up in your corn field to shoot them, you would know in your heart that nickleback is real. Its called culture, obviously that escapes all of you.

  1. Also, there is nthing more I want to do right now then to just reach through this computer screen and slap you in the face. With a fish. A rainbow trout specifically. And even morespecifically, a dead and rotting one. So this way, every time you think of posting the link to this video on any other forum you may just happen to frequent, you will remember the smell of rotting rainbow trout sliding across your greasy face, and quite possibly, refrain from ever posting it again,

Of course like any genre, metal is always changing but playing heaving guitars doesn't mean it's metal.
Metal, just like any any other music genre, is not only about music itself but about style, clothes, hair cuts and...........attitude.
Dio is shaking in his coffen to reply to you

I have nothing against Nickelback, the only problem is their music sounds too generic to my ears, I can't stand those weak pop arrangements for more than 1 minute even with the most brutal guitars ever , but they're not a crap band at all.

I just wanna point out something, some Nickleback songs (namely, the ones that dont go on radio) have some very nice double bass in it and last time I check the bassist used 2 8x10 Peavy bass cabs that could kill babies.

- Give it a rest. Do you really think that this thread is of a serious nature? 8Fingers is reeling you in. He didn't even have to put any ....ing bait on the hook. - CIAM in the 5 Bands you can't stand thread - saying this to toolsound
- It would just be like "BWOMP BWOMP BWOMP" vs the "VRuuuuOOOOmmmmMMRRRROooomRRR" of the engine. - A subwoofer vs. engine sound, by ESP Griffyn
- New used car fund: 0$, I bought one

I have musics I don't like. That's okay, as that's a matter of opinion.

When someone talks about how a musician/singer/band sucks, though, they all sound the same to me. Whether it's about which genre of dubstep is *real* dubstep, or whether Boyz 2 Men is better than Menudo, or how one doesn't like one group of boys who play screamo versus another, those people would completely be at home gushing over the various pictures in Tiger Beat Magazine.

A girl I used to know once said to me, "I don't like that album... but I can tell that those people *know* how to play." You can talk about how much a band sucks, but if a group of musicians can't figure out to write music which compels people to listen to it, and another group can... well, I guess that's why goths take comfort in being on the outside, knowing that they're superior to others.

Er... did I say "goths?" I know we were talking about another group which does the same thing, but I got confused by the obvious similarities. *laugh*

Nickelback obviously knows what they're doing because they continue to crank out hit records that sell metric ....tons and have soldout arena tours. I read in an interview they mentioned how they could make a very technical and heavier album but they know what pays the bills.

So no one finds anything disingenuous about them? I can understand why people like them, the problem is that Nickleback does too, and only do that. They're less like musicians and more like businessmen.

If Nickleback pulled a Metallica and came out with some weird shit just because they wanted to as artists I'd flip shit. Probably wouldn't like it, but I'd flip shit. No, instead they insist on selling the same song over and over.

And for the record, Menudo is better.

I remember when explaining to a girl I used to date that behaviour.
She said if a band is making millions, why should they change their music?
I said artists hate keep doing the same thing over and over, they like to innovate, to do creative things so once any artist already has millions in his account, his spirit will keep screaming at him to make different things EVEN if he could lost money cause cause money is not a problem anymore.
That's the difference between an artist and a product.Nickelback is a product to make millions and there's nothing wrong about that and if someday they pass the 'product' phase and start to make art, probably I'll care about them

Never forget that according to our friend rectifryer, only people who do that stuff he did mention are able to appreciate Nickelback's music as art
I keep wondering what Menudo fans had to do to appreciate their music
