Hello Everyone

My Name is Maurice

Have been playing since I was 12, am 36 now !!
Gave up playing out about 10 years ago, started a family,
so now I just jam with a few old friends, and have started passing on
the gift of music to my son, who also plays guitar. Also am building new home recording studio.
I have been into 7 string guitar for about a year now, yes I could no longer resist that chugga chugga B string, so now I'm hooked.

Anyway, look forward to learning alot and passing on a little knowledge.

Ciao

Funny story, almost similar to mine, started playing as a teen, then took 15 years off, got married, kids and then at 39 started again, with a couple sevens...although while I may be short one home recording studio. I have a few toys that allow me to record 'in the home'! Ciao and welcome to the family! We deed pics, audio samples, wine whatever you can bring!

Welcome to our 7 string mount olympia! Where the gods of 7 gather (sans rusty cooley and francesco fareri.. unless chris gets that thing put up ;p)

(Edit: I'm a dumbass. Hi anyway ;p)

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Welcome to the forum, Archtop! So you're looking to build a home studio? That's fantastic. You'll find it liberating to have all the time in the world to craft your songs Do you know what gear you're looking at yet? Are you gonna be PC-based, or are you gonna use a standalone recorder (like the new Korg/Roland ones)?

It's great to see so many 7-stringers here now, this site is really growing!

Welcome aboard archtop. It likes you and I share three passions: seven string guitars, our families, and home recording. It's good to be in such good company around here.

Right now I'm using the spare room of our house as my studio which acts as our home office, toy room for the kids, and catch all for any crap that's laying around the house. I have a large area in the basement that I'm going to convert as my new studio. As far as gear goes I'm not sure yet maybe pro tools, that's if I can talk my wife into refinancing the house. I'm using sonar currently, the pro tools thing is not a reality at the moment, maybe someday. Any suggestions on what people use around here would be great.
