Main Seven: Dean Evo 7 Rig: Rocktron Prophesy Thanked: 0
![]() | Obligatory Intro... Hello Everyone, My name is Curtis, and I have been playing guitar for nearly 20 years, and 7 strings for about 6. I used to own an Ibanez RG7620 and a Jackson DR7T, which I recently sold to replace with hardtail guitars... a Washburn WG587 and Dean Vendetta 1.7. The Dean is still en route to my house, but I have been playing the Washburn for a while now and oddly enough, I like it much better than the Ibanez or Jackson. The Dean I am getting mostly for a backup, but also to try something different since I already had luck with a "cheapie" guitar in the Washburn. The reason for my switch to hardtail is that I also play a 6 string in drop d tuning and I was getting tired of having to switch guitars in a set, so I added a Sperzel D-Thing tuner to the E string, allowing me to use one guitar for the seven string songs and the drop d songs. I play in a band in Sacramento, CA called Absent Me, which you can check out in the links in my sig. We kinda sound like the bastard son of Rush, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and Faith No More. I now look forward to having another reason to shirk my responsabilities while at work. ![]() |

I would have preferred keeping it, but trying to convince the lil woman that I need all of these guitars is a little tough.

I love the Prophesy. It gets nice and crunchy without geting all mudded up and the clean tones are crisp. The 2 things I like the most about it are that there are several different sets of eq's to shape your tone, and the ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) feature. Using that you can control your effect paramaters just by your picking velocity, speed, decay, etc. The only weird thing about it is that the delays aren't in stereo, although as a whole the preamp is. I have been thinking about adding a TC Electronic G Major in the loop so I can have stereo delays. The cab emulator sounds pretty damn good too. When I can live, I use the direct outs straight to the board and just use my cab for stage sound. Oh yeah, and thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
