Main Guitar: I play both bass and guitar so my favourite axe would be a toss up between my Jackson DKMG and my Ibanez RG 470. I do however own an RG 7321 but the strings are a bit too heavy for my liking (I'm an .08 .38 guy)

Just noticed this thread.

My name is Derek, been playing since I was 14 or so. Never got into the lead guitar thing (always played around people more interested in showing off than me, so

). So, I mostly play rhythm. However, if anyone wants to test their patience, I would appreciate some tips so I can improve my overall playing.

I switched to 7's earlier this year and the only remaining 6 that I have is my acoustic. Once I can find a (steel-stringed) 7-string replacement, that too will be handed down to my son (he awaits eagerly).

Anyway, I am 31, have 3 kids (2 boys, 1 girl), and a nagging wife. Yes, I'm sooo metal!

My daughter and my oldest son are trying to learn guitar so that's pretty cool.

If I had more time I would probably be in a band, but who has time to practice and gig with all of the fantastic discussions on these forums?

Time for me shut up!

Rig: Mesa/Boogie Road King (pre-Series II), Rocktron Xpression, Johnson J-Station (for PC-based recording of ideas)

Main Guitar: custom Ed Roman Quicksilver, #689, with OFR and String Saver saddles; original Duncan Parallel Axis pickups replaced this year with DiMarzio A.N. and D-Sonic (both wired and installed "backwards", with D-Sonic's solid bar coil facing the neck):

and the "after" close-up pic, with pickup and saddle mods:

Sevens:none yet, having major G.A.S. for Custom Carvin DC727 though! (finish below, but no block inlays, just dots)

Bands: main gig is still unamed, kinda sludgy post rocky thing, solo project named Ziost for every thing else i write
