![]() | Thanks all! I get more impressed with this forum every minute! Zepp88, Yes, I had a Switchblade 50 Head at one stage, unfortunatly was going through finance issues at the time, could not hold on to it. Not sure if you mean Dry as in tone, or a dry amp. I'll address both. Its definitly not a dry amp in the sense that if lacks effects. It contains a bucketload of Modulation effects ,as well as Delay and Reverb. If you mean Dry as in Dry Tone, then its definitly not. The Switchblade gets from creamy, lushious tones to high-gain sparkle in an instant....I never bothered with the MIDI presets, but theres 128 spaces for presets, meaning countless different tones. I wasnt particularly keen on the ultra-high-gain sounds, but the Lead channel really is something special. I'd recommend it to anyone who could afford it! Dammit....I really want mine back now. Might look into it again. Could possibly write a full review then. I hope that helped. -Mick. |

![]() | A Tube replacement would certainly benefit this amp. That was one I forgot to write in! Groove Tubes or JJ's should do the trick! If your looking for saturated tones, the switchblade is a grand choice! Not personally my favorite H&K, but close enough! I am really surprised people are so friendly here. I was a regular on a certain "Big" forum (Im sure you can guess which), but now its full of 14-year-old kids who have nothing to talk about except "Which amp? An MG or a Line6?" Which is fair enough....they need to learn...but the barrage of tube snob idiots afterwards really bug me. Not only all that, But I'm only 18, and I DO know a fair bit about music and guitars....but no matter how much I help, they dont listen and condridict you. No matter even if you're right! I'm glad I found this place! I can finally talk to sensible people about the best thing in the world! -Mick. |

And, there's a good mix of tube lovers and solid state lovers There's also a lot of hilarious nonsense here... ![]() So, what's your favorite H&K I've never played one, but I'm interested in the Switchblade for it's features, it's something that I wish Mesa would do. | |
