The body is within specs of a classical, on the larger end, the scale length is somewhat smaller, 632 mm (25 in) instead of the usual 650 mm (25 1/2 + in), and you will notice that the soundhole is higher up in the body than usual. This was made so that the soundboard could capture longer wavelengths (the soundhole is a break in the continuity of the soundboard, exactly on the symmetry axis of it, where most energy is transmitted from the vibrating strings to the bridge). There are 20 frets, and the fretboard is elevated with respect to the soundboard more than usual, to facilitate higher positions. The 7th string is normally tuned at B1.

I give you the tuning I use, from high to low: g4, d4, a3, f3, c3, g2, d2, a1, d#2, c#2 (the last two, re-entrant). So, strings from 2 to 7 are tuned with the same intervals as an ordinary 6-string guitar, but one tone lower, the 1st string is a 4th higher than the 2nd, the 8th is a 4th lower than the 7th. It is not possible to raise the pitch one tone, because the 1st string would break at that scale length. Strings 9 and 10 are so tuned as to get as even resonances on all notes played fretted on the other strings as possible, but I seldom use these last 2 strings, even less so fretted.

Beautiful guitars you have!

I love the 7-string classical especially - was that made by an Italian builder?

And very cool & interesting tuning concept for your 10-string. So you're treating it like an 8-string with two extra sympathetic strings (9 & 10)?

I'd have to disagree with this completely. Vibrato (moveable) bridges are just as adjustable as most fixed bridges.

In my experience adjusting the nut position like the Buzz Feiten or Earvana mods is very effective for getting much more accurate intonation than conventional guitar set-ups.

Welcome! That's a great tuning you've got there.

What gauge/brand do you use for your high G string?
