![]() | New here, just thought I'd introduce myself Hey everyone, I'm new to this sort of thing in general but to start I'm Alex, 20 years old and i'm a college student at Auburn University. I've been playing guitar for about 8 years and I've had my current (and only) 7-string for 4 of those years. I'm currently playing with a Metal/Industrial band called Media. Some of my chief influences are people like Wes Borland, Mike Mushok, Stephen Carpenter, Brian Welch, all of the Eagles guitarist (can't remember their names, I just know that I love their playing), and John Connoly of Sevendust. My rig consists of a customized Ibanez RG-7321 (i'll have to correct my profile info on that) with a Seymour Duncan Invader and some body/paint work I did. I'll try to get some pictures up to show the work I've done with it. My 6-string is a Cort M-800 semi hollow body, everything on it is stock. For amps I'm running a Crate BV-120 through Mesa guitar cabs and Gallien Kruger bass cabs on top (yes a full stack). Effects wise I'm going off of a Digitech Whammy, Zoom multi effects pedal (one of the basic ones), Boss Octaver, and i'm working on adding my MacBook Pro to the set up via Guitar Rig 2 and the pedal. I haven't finished setting everything up with getting my effects and volumes matched up correctly on Guitar Rig 2 because this is a bit new to me in mixing up my computer into the live rig. All in all I just came here because I'm really eager to learn from everyone and take in as much as I can on everything 7-string. I'm currently in the market for a cheap 7-string that will be good for my customizing. I tried out a Cort Viva 7-string and thought that it would be a great project as long as I could nab on for about $150 maybe $200. I have a Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickup and am also considering getting a Blaze neck pick up (not sure yet). But anyways I'll end my talking for now. I'll be scanning these forums a good bit reading more than talking probably but I just wanted to at least introduce myself. Take care all. |
