Thanks. I might get another one finished this weekend.

Yea, this place is huge and has tons of stuff in it. It's almost overwhelming, but that's a good thing.

definitely got some interesting stuff going on musically. How long you been recording? How often can we expect new material?

I've been recording for maybe a year now. I started off using the onboard 8-track recorder that's in my Digitech GNX4, but I outgrew it pretty quickly. It doesn't take long before you use up all the tracks with guitar bits and have nothing left for bass. So this past Friday after Thanksgiving I took advantage of Guitar Center's 20% off sale and bought that Korg 32 track recorder. I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm constantly recording. I still need to finish up this one song called "Attention - Dig In". The second solo has been recorded for some time, but I've never been able to figure out how to end the song properly, so it remains undone at the moment. My thought is to end it like at the very end of Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime CD.

I'm working on another one called "March of the Juggernaut". Right now it's in pieces of just rhythm. I haven't decided on any solo bits for that or recorded any bass to it. The rhythym pieces are done on my 7 string and sound pretty cool. It's got a nice, not too slow, not too fast groove to it.

"The Brave" is another one that I've got. Some trumpet, tuba and I think Oboe have been recorded so far.

I've got lots of other pieces or thoughts that I've got recorded that need a song to call home. Some are better than others.

My goal is to release a full length CD, about 10 songs or so, by the summer of this year. Maybe sooner, but I doubt it.

Courtney, I don't know if your up on your Drew lore, but he has promised to finish his CD for quite some time now, and takes endless abuse for it. That and his perilous propensity for precious pink polos.

I think its almost 4 years now, isn't it? Admittedly, it'd probably go faster if I ever replied to his PM's, but he can't go two months without re-recording everything with a new mic or cabinet or amp or guitar or oxygen/nitrogen mix in the recording room.

LOL...I wasn't aware that he's been trying to record a CD. I did check him out when you mentioned his name. I listened to a couple of clips he has got up on his site. Pretty good.

See, I can fall victim to that as well - re-recording everything. I made a promise to myself when I started down this path. I'm notorius for being a perfectionist at certain things and this is one of them. The thing is I simply don't have the time to sit here and re-record stuff until it's perfect to my liking. I'll re-record a few times and whatever it is, it is.

There are several places where I don't like my timing or something else on some tracks, but I'm also not getting paid to sit here and make an album. If I were I'd be the perfectionist and do it until it's right to my ears. Until I get signed it's just going to be what it is.

I know I can play it. It might not sound perfectly perfect, my tone might not be perfectly perfect, but it's pretty ok.

Right now I'm getting a bit of a head start on a couple of February contests (shhhhhh!!!!) I'm going to enter rpmchallenge.com and maybe fawm.org challenge. In both it's a contest to record an album in the 28 days of February. RPM only wants 10 songs or 35 minutes worth of material. FAWM wants 14 songs in 28 days.

So, I've got a few songs under my belt already, and I've got a few more to work on this month and next to get ready. If I keep going at this rate I'll be able to have at least 10 songs by this summer. Again, they won't sound perfect, but if someone wants to pay me enough to quit my job and re-record everything I will...and it'll be perfect.

But I can understand totally, so no hits from my end to Drew. Being a perfectionist is a bit of a pain when you're trying to accomplish a goal. Things just never seem good enough so you spend all your time redoing what is essentially good enough for what you're doing.
