![]() | thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I will try out the triple rec. The flight case I have (bought for $250, by the way) is custom designed for two of them, so maybe it was meant to be, lol. The case also has two fans for each head, which is pretty cool. Anyway, I have read many of the posts about the triples on here and it seems that my concerns that 150w was too much power missed the point-- it seems the advantages are increased headroom and a bit tighter sound when compared to the duals. I do like the sound of power tube clipping vs just preamp distortion though. When I try one out I'll report back on my findings. Also, it seems like the increased cost in tubes might be a bit of a negative... With my 5150 I have the preamp gain on 3 and the post on 7 (lead ch.). Good clipping, but still saturated and clear enough for my needs. The 707s are so hot that I turned the gain way down from when i played my other guitars [with the JB or Rio Grande Muy Grande (then: gain on 5.5). cheers! |

![]() | for the KB lovers, here are the most recent pics he sent me of the new guitar. I ordered this one about 2 1/2 years ago. By the way, I was a little off on the dates with my first KB; I ordered it around late '98 and it came about two years later. Anyway, here they are-- (keep in mind that the wood will have a much better appearance once the danish oil finish is applied) |
