I purchased my first 7-string a couple months ago. I just stumbled upon this site searching for scales and have found it to be immensley useful. Here's the breakdown: I've been playing for 3 years, decided to buy a 7-string because trying to play unearth on a 6 just won't cut it, and I loved the feel of the neck. Other guitars include a B.C. Rich Ironbird platinum pro plus, ESP/LTD EX-351 (Hetfield model), Fender Strat, a butchered B.C. Rich Warlock, and a crappy acoustic. I have a Lab Series 200w full stack and a crate 30w practice amp and play through an EH Metal Muff, Digitech GNX1, Boss TU-2, and/or Ibanez TS-9. That's it. Thanks to everyone for posting great info.
