Greetings from Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Hey folks,

Name: Jean Claude

City: Montreal,

Location: Quebec, Canada

Band: None at this time. I just picked up the 6th string accoustic guitar about 6 months ago and I've been practicing since then...pentatonic scales & modes.

I've discovered Marcel Coenen last year and I have been a fan ever since. That kind of pushed my curiosity for the 7th String electric guitar and now I'm looking to buy my first 7th String. The only problem is I don't know what to buy...I heard the Ibanez RG7321 is a good 7th string guitar to start with. I was seriously thinking about buying that guitar and changing the pickups on it.

Aside from that, I work both as a Security Guard and a Bellmen in a Hotel. Both of my jobs I work in downtown Montreal.

Anyways, if somebody could help me with this It would be greatlly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Jean Claude

Hey welcome...wow the Canadian content is growing strong.
Well I guess the first thing you should disclose is what kind of budget are you working with...

Salut!

Welcome on the board, fellow montrealer!

Lots of people will tell you a 7321 is a good 7 to start with.
There's also a lot of other options...
For instance, i first bought a Squier stagemaster for 250$.
I wanted to make sure i liked the 7.
When i decided there was no way back, i stripped the paint, changed the pick-ups and electronics. Now, it's a very good guitar to beat up.
There's a lot of good starter guitar out there : the Ibby's, Washburn, Schecter...

For your interest :

- I've seen Schecter 7 at Archambault + Steve's music.
- Ibby's 7 are at Italmelodie.

Go and give them a try!

Become one of us or die, fuckers. / Rick - RHLC V-P.

Well I'm willing to spend up to 1300$. I figured that I might as well spitt the cash on a good and high quality guitar since I will probably keep it for a very long time.

I took a look at the 7th string jem from Ibanez...man I have to admit that this a great guitar. I saw Marcel Coenen rip off some riffs on it and it was beautyful man lol.

I also contacted Bo-El guitars to see just for fun how it would cost me to have a Marcel Coenen 7th string guitar signature to be delivered here and pricewise it was near 2000$. Warranty for 5 years and shipping and handling all included.

Hey salut!

Yeah I will have to take a look at those Schecter guitars...I never really took the time to see what sort of product they have on market.

Indeed I'll have to go to Italmelodie and check it out!. Thanks for the input man.

Nice to see a fellow Montrealer ...I suddenly feel less of an illegal Alien LOLL

that's a lot of $ to spend for a guy that's been playing for 6 months.
Though if spending that much isn't a problem, why not.
Of course, you can always sell it back easily, in case you don't like it.

LOl Yeah I know it's alot of cash but there is more than one option here. I can buy a nice guitar which I will probably keep all my life or I buy a good guitar price range in the 400-600 $ and buy some gizmos to have fun with..a floor pedal, a decent amp, effect processor etc.

I'm still thinking about it.
