Hey there from Canada
hey everybody, I'm brendan. I've been playing guitar for about 8 years altogether but i just got my first seven string about a month ago (Aria MAC Pro 507V, black w/Floyd Rose) and I'm definitely loving it. i'm currently getting my BMus at Carleton university in Ottawa, Canada so I play everything from classical to jazz to indian raggas (it's a sick school, seriously) but my first love is metal (incl. dream theater, opeth, exodus, testament, nile, behemoth, enslaved, nevermore). right now I'm mostly just playing nevermore songs along with my own stuff but i'd love to hear some suggestions for other bands/guitarists who play 7s that I should get into!

It's always good to see more Canucks around here, welcome
 ! As far as bands who play 7 strings you should check out, just about everyone here will tell you to check out Periphery ASAP. I also love bands like Textures, Meshuggah, After the Burial and Whitechapel. They all use 7 or 8 string guitars.

haha thanks man, i've heard tons of good stuff about Periphery but i haven't been able to find a torrent for any of their records, any tips?

www.soundclick.com, search for periphery or bulb. If you make an account (free) if you haven't made one already, you can download everything that's there, there's a few with vocals, some mixtests and just lots of good stuff!
 Oh and welcome to the forum man!
