Look at the specs of each model and choose the one that YOU like better. They're both made in the same place with about the same level of quality.

Do like Mahogany or Alder bodied guitars?
Do you prefer 27" scale or do you want something slightly shorter like 26.5"?
How often do you use your neck pickup?
Do you like using tapped single-coil tones?

What music do you like and what style do you play? What is your current 6 stringer and what is the best guitar you've ever played?

If you can answer these questions we'll be able to help you, no problem.

Okay, so the Viper has 24 frets, which points to an Ibanez RG7321 or if you don't mind spending money you should get a RG1527. They're excellent guitars and they've got nice thin necks. If you want similar for less you can get a second hand RG7621/RG7620/RG7421/RG7420 although they're lower quality than the RG1527. They're good buys if you're on a budget.

If you don't mind only having 22 frets you can get a mahogany S7320 with an excellent tremolo system but it has a slightly thicker neck.

All would need a pickup change as Ibanez pickups aren't great.

If you like very thick necks then go with Schecter 7 strings.

oh nice. what'd you replace it with?

And you and Vineroon seem bent on giving me 1527 GAS

I know this thread is for OPs benefit, but I keep reading your posts about the 1527 and all I see are black 1527s and 1527Ms dancing n my head.
