Metronome programs for OSX

Anyone here know of any good metronome programs for osx that have settings for odd time sigs? Preferably free I found one called MetroGnome but it's not so great.

EDIT: BTW, sorry if I might have put this in the wrong section.

If you have anything like Protools, Logic, Garageband or Cubase you could just run them in whatever timing and tempo you like, I do that for practice sometimes.

If you don't, look into Reaper or Audacity. Little time to get to know them, but then you can go from metronomes to programming drums and recording in no time.

I used to use hyrdrogen drum prog as a metronome. I just plugged in a hi-hat and went to town.

I've just kind of been figuring out odd time sigs and I'm a little confused how you play something like 5/8 or 7/8 with a standard metronome click. I'm pretty sure you can't. I downloaded audacity and it has a setting for beats per measure, but there is no setting for what note value to give those beats.

you certainly can, you just need to understand what it is supposed to sound like

those counting methods work rather well.

in 3/4 for example you would want to count

1 and 2 and 3 and 1 and 2 and 3 etc

6/8 you would want to count in 1 2 3 4 stress the 4 5 6

Yeah, but with something like 7/8 the downbeat of the second measure will fall on an upbeat in relation to the metronome. So the click will alternate between landing on the up or the down beat each measure. Am I wrong? I'm still new to the whole odd time thing, but I think I understand it well enough.

I probably should have titled this thread "odd time sigs and metronomes" or something.

Yeah, if you set the metronome to 3/4 you're going to have the first beat in 7/8 offset by one eighth note each time. You can set most metronomes to have either the accent on the 7th beat or on no beat at all; in a DAW you set the time signature with the tempo. Look up 'time signature' in Audacity's help; I'm sure it can be done there.

I use a program called Tempo, it is a basic metronome, will handle anywhere from 2-8 beats in a bar, and from 40 to 270 beats per minute, with a few different sound options.
