Actually, a really fun way to develop the 'Midnight' tapping style is to try reconfiguring conventional tapping patterns with wider intervals, like tenths. Makes them sound a lot fresher. Try listening to Paganini's 'Caprice #1', as there are some awesome wide-interval arps in that... Here's a tab of the start of it I did a while ago...
