Its a pretty fun song. I learned the intro and some more parts ages ago. I had to do a god bit of work to get the intro string skipping bit clean. Also back then I couldn't play the tapping section, but I'd say I could do it now. I might have a go at relearning the song.
Romeo makes his leads look so easy, it sickening.

I learnt the intro recently just for kicks.

I'm working on Romeo style tapping though, as well as Broderick style tapping. Hard as hell.

I can manage to butcher my way through the whole thing...

I know all the parts, but could certainly use some (alot) more practice, mostly in the solo sections

great band.

I can butcher my way through the whole thing pretty well.

I put a video up on 'tube of me doing the sweep taps after half hour practice, so they're pretty bad. search "lowell brook sweep tap" or something if you can be bothered.

I've just started to learn this song. It's way above my skill level though, but what the fuck. Since it's such a cool song I figured I'd give it a shot.

Update: The intro/main riff is beginning to make sense after some hardcore legato pinky exercises. I really needed to begin working on pinky strength so it was great idea starting to learn this song.

amen to that. I can stretch it and use the ring finger, but you could tell that Romeo uses the pinky.

Pinky strength is important here because unlike all the tabs I've seen, he plays that little sequence first legato, then palm-muted alternate-picked.

it really shows on the legato part if you have the strength...

I just learned everything up to the first solo earlier today... tons of fun. I want to get up to the second solo by tonight and then unfortunately I have to go study for finals...

I can't (confortably) stretch that far so I really needed my pinky there.

Yes, exactly, it was the legato that I found hard. And the thing is that the ring and pinky finger is used like that in more than the main riff (such as in the tapping fill that comes just before the verse, although, that one is much easier to stretch if you'd prefer that of course).

I've got the main riff, the clean part, and the fills involving those. Not very clean yet though. The song itself seems pretty easy to remember. Putting aside that it's a motherfucker to play - it's pretty straight forward at least.

I've started programming a backing track using DFH and Cubase SX3 (in E) with the MIDI I exported from the guitar pro file. Not sure what VST I'll use for the bass yet, I guess I'll try out GR.

Its so wierd, like I was nailing everything (even standing) right before I started to record. And as soon as I started to record, I started fucking up on everything. It's not even how 'recording picks up all of your mistakes'- its some wierd stage-fright associated with it all. Which will be worse when I record a vid for it (why not, its been a while since I've had new youtube vids). I plan on running the audio through Cubase while I record so I can mix it later (though it will be DI into Guitar Rig it will be better than camera audio).

It will get even more interesting when I start recording the solo, I want to do one of those side-boxes with me playing the rythym and harmonies (if I can manage the key harmonies on guitar)
