![]() ![]() | I've never really had a problem doing either Galloping Triplets or any other type of alternate picking. I always start on a downstroke then go to UDU from there. So basically: D-UDU-UDU-UDU,ect. I'm assuming he's going to want to mass produce these rack pies, and why not? I love racks, I love pies, so put them together and you have pie covered titties. - JJ Don't thank me, thank the wombat rapist. - Jamie Mah Deviantart Myspace The Many Faces of Egoraptor |

The "D-UDU" system would be more practical for the IE stuff by far, IMO. If I relax completely I can almost get myself to slip into this pattern. heh

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I could see D-UDU-DUD-UDU etc, since that's just straight alt picking a gallop, but D-UDU-UDU-UDU is just kind of weird If you were trying U-UDU-UDU it would make more sense to me. |

What I'm saying is the D-UDU thing might work better for the Stygian type riffs. The intro is what gives me the most grief, and that's just fast I-III-I-III picking.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Whatever you do, don't do what I did. I trained exclusively to Alive in Athens, where they play all their songs even faster (not as fast as the Burnt Offerings tour, youtube that to be amazed). Because of that, I can no longer play at CD speed, it's too -slow-. I stumble whenever I try. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | one thought that springs to mind: are you picking hard? because while shredding straigh forward it's much easier thus not as important to be movement efficient on your right hand, as compared to gallops. take a second and check your picking technique, and make sure there is no 2inch upstrokes or downstrokes if you knwo what i mean the less excess movement, the faster you get of course, and a classic obstacle in speed galloping is to make the first downstroke of the DUD a friggin 5 inch move, when really it should start a millimeter from the string or something. the same thing could be the case with the last downstroke of the DUD, dont excessively downstroke it all the way down to the next string. keep it tight.if this is not perfected to your liking, do what you always should do: slow it down to say.. 50% of max speed, and start focusing on small movements, almost rubbing the string. it's easy to get carried away and start doing 5 inch downstrokes just cus the riff kicks major ass, but its not very wise while learning or pushing limits, and it would be impossible to play really really fast with that kind of unecessary movement. i dont know but say.. 3-4mm is as far away as you should get from the string, starting the DUD, ending the DUD, or in the middle of the DUD'ing ![]() Eat Shit. Billions of flies can't be wrong. |
