Arpeggios in solos

I know several shapes of arpeggios. However, I can't seem to link them together during a solo in any pattern that sounds good. Can anybody recommend any books or DVDs which would help get the theory behind this down?

Getting some books on basic theory would help.

Then learn the scales/chord relationships.

Pitch axis theory is cool too. I'll see if I can find you that
