Question Implied harmony and implied rythm

Anyone here like to imply harmonies or rythms that "aren't there." For example playing a rythm completley divorced from the prevailing one (superimposition of a differnet meter or playing the same meter divided and/or accented much differently), or playing melodies outlining different chords/scales taht are not present in the harmonic "backing", for example implying a chord progression over a static chord (or vamp), or creating bitonal or polytonal harmony.

Definitely with you on the polyrhythmic effects - use that quite a bit.

Haven't tried any polytonal effects, but it interests me. I'll keep it in mind.

Do you have any examples of stuff you've composed?

I don't have any recordings, but an example would be say you have endless bars of Em and you've playing playing Em melodies over it for a bit. Often I will then start playing Gm, Bbm, or Cm (and their respective modes) melodies over that same Em chord. For a C major chord, I'd probably play some E major, A major or D major (and their modes of ocurse).

Maybe tomorrow I'll record an example of myself playing this way. It is a good way to introduce outside notes, with some reason behind it.

Or polymelodies made by different instruments punctuating the song with different notes at different times to make a percieved melody by compilation of all instruments?

Anyone ever done nonlinear meters before? I've only heard them in electronic music so far, have no idea how to use them on guitar.

Either speeding up or slowing down the meter based on some sort of rule.

Think of a rubber ball bouncing on the floor, the tap sounds speed up gradually, but as the bounces speed up, the rate of change increases.

I've never heard anything like that - sounds really interesting. Could you point me in the direction of some example tracks?

I imply different meters, simply as I LOVE Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, and other fusion players. I enjoy implying tribalistic meters, or just odd divisions.

Although my key playing is definitely limited. I would like to develop that.

Yeah, specially "harmony", with quotes since It's common to call it substitution.
