Hands of Steel - Workout 1: Picking Exercises

This is where I am after a year and a half of not being able to practice. Maybe I'll even learn to read music this time around.

"Im sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth. "

Once you get to a comfortable intermediate level, you should ceck out frank gambale's chop builder. best technique video ever, imo.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Right now I'm doing the alternate picking exercise (part 1).

Picking for 30 seconds, resting for 10, and repeating for the 6 minutes.

So, the idea is to do at first only alternate picking for 30 sec, then rest for 10 sec, then do the up-picking for 30 sec, rest 10 sec and then the alternate on g and d stirng for 30sec?
Or am I gettin' this wrong?

I'm just doing the alternate picking right now. Relearning to play is a pain.
