The entrapment case was the second time -- down in Rancho Cucamonga (IIRC). I think he was part owner of the recording studio at that time. The "ethnically mixed" band incident was back around his High School days up in Antelope Valley.

After the porn incident, he swore he'd never go to jail again, and fired anyone in his bands who got caught with drugs of any kind. Apparently John Frusciante once passed on an opportunity to join the band for that reason.

Have you ever tried an ebow? When I want to practice soloing in that way, I'll let a note drone with the bow, and then freeze it with my delay pedal so it goes on forever...soooooo much fun!

Do you know Michael Manring? He does some amazing stuff with an ebow on his bass...

I've heard of him, but I haven't actaully heard his playing. Seems like a neat guy. Doesn't he have a bsss with like 10 different d-tuners all over it? I live in a cave and have dial up otherwise I'd look up loads of vids. None of my friends that live really close to me have cable or dsl either, so I'm kinda screwed.

Yeah, he's a great player. The 'Hyperbass' you're talking about apparently gives him more than a hundred different tunings he can access on the fly. He does some great fretless stuff. If you can get hold of the Bass Day DVD, he does a great performance on that.

I prefer soloing over drone, I really like the challenge of trying to keep my playing intertesting in long lengths of time.
