Practice affecting my mood
Maybe this is off topic, but does this ever happen to you?- I've been practicing all the keys in harmonic minor today, all the scale patterns and harmonized scales and now I feel so depressed I want to shoot myself. So many miserably sad progressions floating through my head
Sméagol always helps....

Well it sucks to feel that way, but its kind of funny that the practice would affect me that way.

it used to but that's because i would try doing these Rusty Cooley alternate picking licks without taking it slowly first
when using the metronome and taking the relaxed approach, you'll see the progress and feel much better |

I'm not sure what you mean. I was just talking about how the mood of the music affects how I feel. When I play fast licks with harmonic minor it doesn't affect me that way, but when I go through it slowly like today, when I'm playing through every chord in the scale, the mood of it makes me rather depressed, that's all.

im going to try again i've actually never noticed how it affects my mood, because when i'm not playing guitar or making music i'm listening to it but i know that regardless of what the music is, if my mood is of negative sorts playing music (and listening to it) always brightens it |

Interesting.
Usually it has always worked the other way. When someone is sad, they'd write something in a minor mode and something depressing which would help. But never heard it this way. I guess it just works opposite for me. For me: Modified NPH: "If I am sad, I write some jams in minor and then start being awesome again!" FS: ESP LTD M-1000 (Original floyd rose) w/ JP pickups (Crunch lab and liquifire) |

Why not, you know, find more interesting ways to practice? Problem solved.
Guitar techs are for sissies. Learn some damn music theory, don't complain, and you'll be a better person. -Schecterwhore Show me a truly awesome guitar for under $1000 and I'll show you hateful lies. |

I know if I start playing gore metal, I become consumed by gore.
I just start thinking about writing extremely, violent, disgusting, offensive, and to me somewhat funny lyrics and wanting to watch underground torture/snuff horror movies. How can you not laugh at a song titled, "I ....ed Your Daughter with a Frozen Vomit .... Stick". This is by the band Prosthetic ..... |
