Fretless playing

Spinning off from the thread on just intonation, who here plays fretless guitar or bass?

I've just dug out my fretless guitar upon arriving home for the holidays, and it's a fascinating instrument. Got it in DADGAD down a half-step at the moment, as I've found open tunings seem to sing on it more than standard.

Anyone else?

i got a fretless guitar... i need to set it up better but its definately interesting..

Got it tuned to D standard w/ 11 guage flatwounds on it.

I have two fretless guitars a carvin 7 string and a Fernandes Glass necked and a few songs recorded with them you guys have to check out Ned Evett and Tim Donahue two world class fretless players ..and Ron THal as you might expect...

yes sir METAL KENNY!!! ...Actually Ned Evett who works for Fernandes did the work for me...the glass fretboard is black and lasts foreVer....it is a revolver pro 7 with sustainer....makes great whale mating sounds/....

Getting a good setup on a fretless is a bitch.

Mine's got flatwounds as well, but 12 gauge.

well, mines kinda cheap, so i gotta shim the neck a little bit more to get the lowest action i can. i was thinking about getting one of them earvana nuts for it, too.

Mine too...it took a lot of twiddling to get the action to where it is now (not super-low, but comfortable). Did you defret yours yourself?

nah, it came defretted. since we were on the topic, i just adjusted the trussrod and that helped a LOT. i still gotta shim it a bit, and re-adjust the intonation. i think i gotta compensate a bit for the G and D strings.. hows your intonation? (IE, what should i shoot for on the saddle positions?)
