Does anyone know the sweeps he's doing from 0:07 to 0:11?

ascending and descending Diminished 7ths arpeggios. Take this shape:

Code:

e-----------5--8-5--------------
b--------7-----------7------------
G-5---8-----------------8-5----

and move it around really fast while sweeping. like, start it on the 5th fret, move it to the 8th fret, then the 11th fret, etc. Move it up and down a m3rd at a time. Yngwie approves.

Reminds me of a Petrucci exercise played really fast. Try sweeping shapes like these:

He also plays some arps on the D, G, and B strings, do I still use the Diminished arps?

i noticed that after typing that out.. he does at the beginning and end of that run.. as thus, it'd look like this:

The idea is that every interval you play is a minor 3rd apart.

This is the idea you're looking for. It's a great concept and he uses it with all kinds of shapes. You're just playing a 3 string arpeggio and repeating the concept on the following string. Hope this helps.

Maybe its m7b5 type chording, but it really sounds a LOT like the minor 3rd interval movement Yngwie does with Dim7 chords.
