This is a good one. Don't have it on DVD yet. But, I did find "The Dark Crystal" a while ago in a bargain bin.

some odd points about this, by the way (sorry, it’s really one of my favourites)…

in the section where sarah is putting lipstick arrows on paving stones to find a way back out eventually, tiny dudes keep cropping up to turn the stones around, my friend anthony pointed out the following:

you hear one say “bibbidi a-wogga-da wogga-da” at one point…

and the next one (i think) follows with similar words but ends in:

“your mother’s a frikkin’ aardvark”

seriously. it’s not even a ‘misheard’, it’s as clear as day. the guys from henson’s company were crafty buggers.

other weirdnesses that i took from it are the odd factor of a fox (a canine derivative) riding a dog as its steed, the fact that the old lady with the woman on her back is basically the oracle from the dark crystal (“hmm, smells like gelfling”), and that the OST version of ‘as the world falls down’ contains a guitar solo and that when 7 dying trees once stayed round a house i was renting in hampstead after a harsh party, we discovered that he is in fact ludo for the first 2 hours of the morning, even down to the hangover induced underbite.

and finally, when michael horden’s character of the ‘information bureau’ appears, does the puppet on top of him say, finally:

“ah.., it’s so stimulating being your head”

or

“ah… it’s so stimulating being your hat”

?
