   | Writer's Guild of America on Strike Writers Guild of America: News & Videos about Writers Guild of America - CNN.com i first heard about this on NPR while driving to work last week, but it didn't really hit me as all that interesting until i read a blurb about one of the factors leading to the strike: internet airings of tv shows. apparently writer's don't get paid as much (or at all?) for airings of their work on the internet. of course, i don't own a tv, so i don't think this will affect me all that much, but apparently Leno and Letterman have already gone into reruns, and some other *live* shows are having to ad-lib. has Conan gone to reruns yet? i think i always liked that show because of some of the horrible jokes that had me thinking, "does Conan have any writers at all?"  I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways, we could reverse the particle flow through the gate. We'll cross the streams. |

| i just read that Leno brought donuts to the NBC picketers. whether it's a real show of support for the cause, or just a photo-opt for his ratings, that's a real class act.  |

| I thought I could have written better jokes than some of the stuff those late night writers come up with, and I'm not funny. The shows were funnier when Conan was writing jokes for the other guys. The Conan O'Brian show is pretty funny, but it's also on pretty late. I'm afraid that if they move him up earlier, he'll somehow get less funny, though. They need more bits with Triumph the Comic Insult Dog.  |
