The Fountain
Has anyone else seen it?
I'm a huge fan of Darren Aronofsky's work, so I've been looking forward to this for a good 5-6 years, and I was about as far from disappointed as is possible. That was the most beautiful, most incredible, most brilliant movie ever. The acting was perfect (Brad Pitt would have ruined this movie, and I'm glad he backed out) The sound design was perfect (best surround mix of any movie I've seen) The music was perfect (Clint Mansell, Kronos Quartet, and Mogwai, and more beautiful than any soundtrack I've heard previously) The visuals were perfect (beyond description) My girlfriend cried for the last 45 minutes or so of the movie, as well as all the way through the credits, and most of the ride home. I don't blame her, I cried a little too, and I don't cry for movies. Anyone who likes really emotional, thought provoking, artistic movies, should see this movie. There's never been anything else like it. Darren Aronofsky is, in my opinion, one of the only directors out there right now doing anything different and pushing the medium forward. His name will be remembered for years after he stops making movies, and his movies will be studied by future generations, and I'm not even exaggerating. |

Can't wait till i see this!!!
I'm a bigggg fan too. Reviews are so-so in our local papers. But hey, i don't give a damn. I'll absolutely go this week... Went to see "The Prestige" instead last week. Also a big fan of Nolan, especially "Memento". Batman Begins was awesome imo... So was The Prestige (but not better than Memento and Insomnia). More discussion after the screening!

I wasn't aware that Insomnia was from the same director as Memento, I also liked both of those movies, and Batman Begins, and am looking forward to The Prestige. |

An almost-universal truism (I give him some slack for "Fight Club" and "12 Monkeys" - otherwise he's useless.)
I'm looking forward to "The Fountain". Now I just have to manage to get out to see it... Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook, and Soundclick might eventually be updated, too.

Excellent movie. A bit of a mind.... if you're not ready for it going in (as with most of Aronofsky's stuff). My gf cried throughout the whole movie, although she lost her mom to brain cancer a few years ago so it's a tough subject for her.

I saw it at the premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. It was a beautifully conceived and shot piece of work. And the performances were amazing. But yeah... it's a very arty film, and at times i found it to be arty for the sake of being arty.

I thought he was great in Ocean's Eleven. The interplay between he and George Clooney in that one was awesome.

I was always a fan of his acting in Seven, but then you're not really supposed to completely like him in Seven, so maybe he just didn't have to try very hard
