Huge spoiler. If you've not seen the film, do so, and then read this comment.

When friends and I talk about movie plots, I will often go right for Se7ven, regardless of what is being discussed. "So, in Sleepless in Seattle, Tom Hanks gets out of the elevator... and he opens a box containing Gwyneth Paltrow's severed head.

"And, when Ginny opened up Tom Riddle's journal... inside was Gwyneth Paltrow's severed head."

"So, at the end of "It's a Beautiful Life," George is finally greeted by all his friends who knew the bank needed money. He opens the box they give him, and inside he finds Gwyneth Paltrow's severed head."

"Life is like a box of choc-lits. You never know what you'll find inside... like Gwyneth Paltrow's severed head."

I had one person get upset when I managed to insert the reference into a Seinfeld episode.

*laugh*

I've always thought that "Gwyneth Paltrow's Severed Head" would be a great band name.

That is all.

Gross, lust and sloth were just horrific. The rest were bad, but... ugh. Great movie if you like to be horrified and/or disgusted. It's an acquired taste that has eluded me thus far. If you like that sort of thing, I can see why this film would be really enjoyable, but I'm the sort of guy that can get scared in a Disney film.

I'm not a hipster, I just act like it ironically.

Gotta go with original The Exorcist for #1. But 7 was cool as well. Not much on Brad P.(guess he's just better looking than me so I hate him)huhuh. Always liked Morgan Freeman in most movies.

some of the murders were absolutely horrid, like lust and sloth, but I enjoyed the movie. For some reason I came to watch it with too much expectations, so when I finished watching it I felt kind of "meh", but after a while it sunk in and found it's place.

Kinda spoiler related I guess:
my and my gf always cry out "What's in the box?!" whenever there's a box around, or just in appropriate moments

One of my favorites. I was disappointed to see on the DVD how there was a storyboard for an alternate ending that IMO could have been better.

[spoilerforsomethingthatdoesn'thappen]
In the alternate ending, Morgan Freeman (yeah, I'll just use the actor names) shoots Kevin Spacey before Brad Pitt gets a chance to do it himself. That way, Pitt gets to keep fighting the good fight while Freeman was retiring anyway. Maybe it was discarded because it didn't really satisfy the need for it to end with a ridiculous tragedy.

I was predestined to be underwhelmed by this film, because EVERYONE was going on and on about how super-dee-duper awesome it is and how much I need to see it, so it could do nothing but fail to reach the bar they set up for it when I finally saw it.

It seems that time has had a weird effect on the movie. Nowadays,
whenever I even hear "Gwenyth Paltrow" I think, "oh sweet Jesus, somebody needs to stuff her head in a cardboard box" because she is so self-imposingly annoying now. Back then, she was at the very least not unlikeable to the point where if she were playing a nice-enough character that it would be perceived to be sad if her character were to be beheaded.

(I keep using spoiler tags, but seriously, this movie came out 657 years ago- must we?)

Right there with you, man. While I recognize what I great film it is, I also can't do Resevoir Dogs. Or The Accused, for that matter. And I never even bothered watching Hostel because it was so obviously not my cup of tea.

Since it came up...

I always use spoiler tags because I would rather experience a movie with no knowledge of plot developments. I give that same respect to others.

Even if one has either seen or decided that one would read a plot synopsis on one's own, it's just plain courtesy to not spoil things for others. To assume that everyone else knows exactly the same things as oneself is a little weird.

This reminds me... I remember when I saw the second Star Wars movie in theaters on opening day. I went to the second showing, and when the first showing let out, one guy walked out and said to his friend, in a really loud voice, "The butler did it! Who would have expected that?!!" *laugh*

If you don't care enough to research your own question, why should anyone else care more?

I have mixed feelings about this movie. The storyline and atmosphere was very good but I really was put off by Brad Pitt's acting. He just ruined the film for me. The worst scence for me which I actually felt nauseated was the sloth guy, when they think he is dead and suddenly he starts thrashing around. I almost threw up in the movie theater.
