The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born
The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Has anyone seen this? It is the comic book series of the events that happen before The Dark Tower series takes place. They're now all available in one book. Amazon.com: The Gunslinger Born (The Dark Tower Graphic Novel): Peter David,Stephen King,Robin Furth,Jae Lee: Books The next three issues of the second part are currently available: The Dark Tower: The Long Road Home - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I'd much prefer a book, but I'll take what I get, since I'm a Dark Tower fiend.

I'm currently re-reading through The Dark Tower and right now I'm on Wizard and Glass, which I've heard the first few issues of this comic were based off of.
It seems they even touch on the horrible cataclysmic event that killed off the Great Old Ones and started the spiral into destruction and the beginning of the end of the multiverse. The Dark Tower series on the second time through is very interesting, since you know how it ends. I'm actually really really liking the ending to the series through my re-read and now I believe that the way King ended the series was the only possible ending there could have been, considering the way all the books up to the ending were written. The wonderful kind of nightmarish fuck-with-you-head kind-of-stuff. I can find tons of Stephen King novels in large bookstores in Tokyo, but not this comic, which is unfortunate. I'd definitely buy it. |

I've read the whole series about five times now. It has taken me that many times through to catch all the shit that is going on. All the foreshadowing really starts popping out the second time through, and after the third or forth time, you finally begin to grasp a lot of the stuff that was explained to you early on.

The Wastelands is my favorite book in the series. So much cool stuff happens in that book, and that is where you really begin to get an understanding of how the universe is put together, and what is wrong with Roland's world.

Definitely, Noodles. It's interesting how I'm reading certain parts I had read the first time in a COMPLETELY different way. Like "Ohhhh." Understanding what it meant and the significance it holds or the irony in things that I never got the first time through.

It's my second favorite after The Drawing of the Three. I love the parts in Lud and the parts where Roland and Jake are losing their minds. Last edited by Naren; 04-29-2008 at 01:45 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

I mentioned this series of comics several times in the original thread I made, pretty much every time I got a new issue. No one seemed to interested then. I wonder if the comic shop has my next 3...
And I will always love The Gunslinger version of Roland most. Gunslinger is still my favourite book in the series, mostly coz Roland's all business in that book and does not fuck around. Though to be honest my favourite moment in the series probably involves a bar in Mejis, coffin hunters and 3 boys owning their faces.

And yes, the area in green text is exactly why those are my favourite things .That said, seeing him develop into something more than a well oiled killing machine throughout the series is one of the other awesome parts of the series.

![]() Definitely. He seems almost inhuman in his ruthlessness in the first novel, becoming a little more decent after meeting Jake, but we all know how that ends. Then, from then on through the series, he keeps changing in a more human way. Pretty kickass.

The scene in Tull is my favorite battle in all of the novels.
